Join Wayland Games In Celebrating International Women's Day!
International Women’s Day is here! At Wayland Games, the team is taking a sweet (and savoury) approach to support this global initiative. The company hosted a staff bake-off competition, turning the workplace into a hub of camaraderie, delicious treats, and a celebration of the diverse talents within the team.
Celebrated annually on March 8, International Women's Day is a holiday with a focal point in the women's rights movement. IWD gives focus to issues such as gender equality, reproductive rights, and violence and abuse against women.
The theme for International Women's Day 2024 is "Inspire Inclusion." When we encourage others to value and embrace women's participation, we create a better future. When women feel motivated and included, they feel a sense of belonging, importance, and empowerment. Collectively, we must build a more inclusive world for women.
Our Partnership with Mental Health UK
On International Women's Day, we recognize the achievements and challenges of women worldwide while also shining a light on the need for mental health support.
Mental Health UK works tirelessly to support individuals, including women, in their journey toward mental well-being through awareness-raising initiatives and collaborative fundraising. By supporting Mental Health UK, Wayland Games aims to make a difference by leveraging the gaming community's strength and passion.
We believe every contribution matters, and together, we can support those facing mental health challenges. Join us on this journey with Mental Health UK and help us create a more compassionate world. Your support will not only help us meet our fundraising goals but will also make a positive impact on individuals' lives.
Wayland Games Staff Baking Competition
In order to celebrate International Women’s Day and raise money for Mental Health UK, Wayland Games held their first Baking Competition of the year. Have a look below for all of our fabulous entries:
The competition was judged by the rest of the office, with two categories available for prizes: Overall Best Tasting Bake and Overall Best Looking Showstopper. Applicants were allowed to enter a maximum of one sweet and one savoury bake and were reminded they could not vote for themselves!
Bakers and Tasters were encouraged to donate to Mental Health UK through our JustGiving page, and after much deliberation by the office, we had our winners:
Congratulations to Luke and Lydia for being named Star Bakers, and well done and thank you to everyone who participated!
Painting Competition
In tandem with our baking competition Wayland Games held our quad-annual miniature painting competition, this time with an element theme. Watch this space for the blog coming soon with all our entries, to be released on Earth Day 2024!
