Wayland Games Warcradle Studios Miniature Painting Competition
We’ve been quiet for a while, with UK Games Expo having taken place, but we’ve got our paint brushes, pots, and Nuln Oil at the ready as we all prepare for our Warcradle Studios miniature painting competition.
Dystopian Wars, Wild West Exodus, and Mythos - Oh my!
I put the Wayland signal out to alert our painters that their task, if they chose to accept it, was to paint a Warcradle Studios miniatures boxed set of their own choice. To say this competition was well-received would be an understatement.
Yeah, I can’t show you what’s in the Warcradle Studios cabinets so have a pic from UKGE instead.
After checking in with Chris and Daz over at Warcradle Studios, and having a brief nose around their offices (because, why not?), we were all ready to get started. So, without too much more to do let’s get this rumble GOING!

Miniature Boxed Sets we’re painting
Some staff picked a whole new game system to try, whereas others went for something a bit more familiar by trying a new faction or adding to their fleet or posse with a new addition. You can find all choices above!
Pre-paint
Now, as staff have already delved into the world of Warcradle Studios game systems before, we needed proof that no shenanigans were going to happen. Bring on the naked miniatures!
Update One
Just keep painting painting painting…
Bertie = Mood
So many miniatures to paint!
Contestants were uncharacteristically quiet as they all focused on their projects to reach the upcoming judging deadline. I’m not saying that they’re feeling a teeny bit more pressure than usual due to the fact that it’s Warcradle Studios products, that judge Daren has painted himself for the Studio… but, you know, I’m also NOT NOT saying it.
To be honest, I think dachshund Bertie reflected the general mood of painting contestants this week. BUT DO NOT FEAR FOR CHRIS IS HERE to lighten our hearts and give us a cheerful message to encourage all to continue.
When asked to comment, Chris would like to respond with a heartfelt:
I am 100% certain that all contestants will have been warmed by Chris’s words as it is like receiving a chin-scritch. Their faces will now reflect Bertie’s face upon receiving said chin-scritch.
